Book-Based Movies in 2017

Movies based on books are becoming more and more common – which is generating high expectations for book lovers who are wanting to see their favourite books brought to life on the big screen.

This represents a huge challenge for producers, directors, and entire team in charge of creating an adaptation that meets or exceeds the expectations of whoever read the book.

Here at APITS, the best bookshop in Puerto Vallarta, we always recommend reading a book before watching its film counterpart, because no matter how many millions of dollars in production are released each week on the big screen, nothing can surpass the power of the mind and imagination.

For those of you who are eagerly awaiting the premiere of movies based on books in 2017, we have made a list of some of these movies so that, in the case of not having read the book, you can jet out and purchase it and make sure you’re finished reading it before each premiere:

Before I Fall

This drama based on the book by the American Lauren Oliver, describes the experience of a 17-year-old girl who dies in a car accident but suddenly finds herself "condemned" to live that day over and over without any explanation.

Its premiere in the United States will be on the 3 of March in 2017.

The Invisible Guardian

Adaptation of the book written by the Spanish Dolores Redondo (and the first of a trilogy) that narrates the discovery of the body of a teenager in a river, and the consequent investigation of the inspector Amaia Salazar, who must return the town of her childhood to solve the case.

It will be released on March 3, 2017 in Spain.

The Dark Tower

Stephen King makes our hair stand on back of our necks again with one of his exciting books, whose plot was adapted for the big screen. It is about an 11-year-old boy who discovers the entrance to a dimension called Mid-World, where a gentleman named Roland Deschain lives who is entrusted with finding the Dark Tower. "

It will be released on July 28 in the United States.

The Snowman

Drama written by the Norwegian Jo Nesbo, where Detective Harry Hole tries to solve a mysterious murder of a woman, whose scarf is found around the neck of a mysterious snowman.

It will be released on October 13, 2017 in the United States.
