The Famous Puerto Vallarta ArtWalk

The perfect “foot in the door” for art enthusiasts, a guided or self-guided tour of Puerto Vallarta’s art scene. The Puerto Vallarta Artwalk is held every Wednesday from October 27th, 2021 through May 25th, 2022. But don’t worry if you missed these dates as you can view the map online through the Puerto Vallarta Artwalk website and follow along to the various galleries throughout the downtown and romantic zones of Puerto Vallarta.

This walking tour of the city stops at 15 galleries that have been carefully curated for art lovers. The participating galleries in the Centro Historico showcase artworks by national and international artists including paintings, sculptures, fine ceramics, and jewelry. According to TripAdvisor, the walking tour should take 2-3 hours to walk the whole way. However, this of course depends on how much time you spend at each gallery, and whether or not you stop at one of the countless restaurants and cafes that offer the best breakfasts and coffees along the way.

Some of the galleries on the tour include:

  • Galeria Colektica who have a focus on the evolution of Mexican art as, throughout the years, new techniques and colors from around the world have influenced Mexican folk artists.
  • Only One is a Mexican goldsmiths shop that has been operating since 1910. They create unique pieces of jewelry of the highest quality and design, all created by hand.
  • Galería Córsica which is actually numbered 3 AND 4 on the map. Showcasing artwork selected carefully by international collector and curator Jean-Pierre Renucci. Every artist featured within this gallery is a part of distinguished collections all over the world, making this gallery a favorite among art collectors.
  • Galería de Ollas unique to this list. One of the last stops on the tour, this gallery showcases pottery from the town of  Mata Ortiz, Mexico. With over 300 ceramists from the area, this gallery exhibits only the best of the best.

As you can see, this walking tour shifts focus many times throughout the walk. From paintings and sculptures to pottery and goldsmithing, along with everything in-between.

It is safe to say that the Puerto Vallarta Artwalk is a great daytime activity that can fill your day with a beautiful tour of the romantic zone, provide you with many opportunities to try some of the best cafes and restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, and of course, give you a taste of the lush and diverse art scene here in Vallarta.
