It’s widely agreed upon that movies very rarely do good books justice, therefore it’s probably a better idea to read the book first before seeing the movie. So, we’ve made a list of must-read books before they become movies in 2018 to make sure you’re not caught off guard!
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline A futuristic science-fiction story set in 2045. It’s got all your classic ingredients for the perfect sci-fi book: an Earth on the brink of collapse, a virtual reality universe...oh and a digital Easter egg that promises a fortune to whoever finds it. USA Today has described it as Willy Wonka meets The Matrix, need we say more?
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken A 16-year-old girl finds herself part of the 2% that survived disease that wipes out 98% of America’s children. She escapes from an internment camp, and well, developed superpowers. Watch out for this movie, word is out that Mandy Moore and Gwendoline Christie have been cast.
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven Elle Fanning will be playing a girl named Violet who meets a boy named Finch in this heart-wrenching story about a girl who befriends a boy who is fascinated with death. The trailer is out now to give you a better idea, but like we’ve said - read the book first!
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle Ok, even if you aren’t the movie type, this book is a must-read. Two children are guided through astral travel in search of their father by Mrs. Who, Mrs. What, and Mrs. Which in search of a secret planet. Also, the cast is amazing: Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Zach Galifianakis will all be featured!
