Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu is an Irish author of Gothic horror and mystery stories. One of his best known works is Carmilla, which is about a female vampire. It is a precursor piece, which has also been adapted to film.
• Since we are talking about elegant and sophisticated vampires, we recommend the entire Anne Rice saga and her Vampire Chronicles. With this saga, the author has become one of the most widely read of the genre. In the nineties her novel Interview with the vampire was adapted film, achieving great success. Although this adaptation of her work represented a big break, we recommend reading the entire saga.
